Why Mercury-Free Dentistry?

The poisonous effects of mercury have long been recognised and we only use mercury-free materials for all fillings, using the strict protocols laid down by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology.

We are of the view that mercury amalgams, commonly referred to as "silver fillings", are toxic (see our Fact Page on Amalgams). This view is at variance with the British and American Dental Associations although the wind of change is blowing through both. At present they maintain that dental mercury amalgam is safe. We do not!

Holistic Dentistry

Our aim is to treat all our patients as a whole and not just ‘a mouth’ by utilising conventional dental techniques in combination with holistic therapies.

Holistic therapies available at the Henry Shaw Clinic include kinesiology, acupuncture, nutrition, homeopathy, flower essences, hypnotherapy, biocompatibility testing and diagnosis.

All materials are sourced from natural and organic suppliers, all dental materials used are mercury free.

 

Our Principal Practitioner

Dr. Carolyn Green,B.D.S.,L.F.Hom(Dent),Dip.FCT, our principal practitioner, qualified as a Dental Surgeon in 1976 at the University of Cardiff.

Her initial experience was gained working in hospital and community service. She then entered general practice owning and running a thriving practice in South Wales for 15 years.

Personal circumstance changed and her desire to enter the holistic field of therapies bought her to North Somerset where she has practiced mercury -free dentistry since 1995.

She is one of the few UK based dentists to receive training in and practice both acupuncture and homeopathy.

She qualified in September 2007 as an FCT (Field Control Therapy) practitioner, one of only 22 UK qualified practitioners, and the first dentist to qualify in 2008. She gained further qualifications in Advanced Cosmetic Procedures (Electrolysis).

She is committed to continuous education and attends numerous postgraduate conventional and complimentary courses, relating to dental matters, cosmetic procedures, aesthetics and general health.
